Kenyan athletes set for Olympics
Despite post-election tribal violence, Kenya's athletes are gearing up to participate in the Beijing Olympics and show they are united.
Kenya's sporting heroes are now ready to bring back the medals Kenya craves for and spread the message of peace, despite Olympic build-up training being inevitably disturbed by the violence that followed the disputed December polls.
As a result, this summer's Beijing Olympics have taken on an unusual significance for the East African country and talk within the sporting community has turned to talk of healing.
The vast majority of Kenya's world-class athletes hail from the western Rift Valley; the scene of the worst of the violence where an estimated 1,500 lives were lost including two runners. Athlete training centers are also mostly found in the Rift Valley area.
